Bumping

I know bumping is technically against our rules, but I think the watchdog mentality is going a bit overboard. I actually like having threads bumped - it brings them to my attention when I might not have spotted them. And with the current policy, it's almost impossible to engage anyone in conversation on the site. Maybe it's time for us to be a little friendlier, a little more open, a little more aware. Sometimes it's nice to have old threads refreshed, to see which requesters are actually interested in seeing their pieces done.

I vote to reinstate bumping!

I thought I was the only one who thought this way! I agree! Maybe changing the programing of the site so that new comments don't automatically move the thread? That would probably please everyone but be a bit of work I imagine?

I was also thinking that the Guild Council is getting slower on their responses. Maybe it's time for a new Guild Council to speed things along or the addition of a few more trusted names. If I could, I would heartily recommend Mercy and/or Xan. I think both have expressed interest in the position and both are on the site frequently. Just a suggestion? If I am alone in this interest then I will be quiet about it and I don't mean to speak for Mercy or Xan or even the entire Guild Council.

I definitely agree. I think it's time for a new Guild Council. Some of the old members have wandered away... maybe they're busy or whatnot, but in the meantime we need a more accessible Council.

This seems familar... " a vote of no confidence in counsilor Valorum....." difficult to see the dark side is...

In fairness, Drig and I are both current Guild Council Members. So we're really calling no confidence in ourselves. Sort of.
When we signed on to be Council members, it was supposed to be a temporary position, lasting I think six months. Now a lot of the current members are busy and away from SWAG. It would be nice to get fresh people on the Council, people with more time to devote.

Hey guys!

I'd be cool to come onto the council - I volunteered on the 'Guild Membership' thread in the 'Imperial Announcements' forum a while back cause I had wondered the same thing, that we may have had a few of the council members had real life get in the way or something...

As for the bumping, I really dislike it when it does, in fact, bump the request back up to the top of the page. If a request, say, went blue when a new post had been made, but didn't get moved up the chain at all, that would be perfect! Then we could still have cool conversations and ask questions but not seem like there was a shameless promotion going on! There's been a few times I've wanted to ask if a particular, and really old, request was still wanted and had to resort to PMs or emails (usually with no reply from the requester) because otherwise it would bump a year-or-more-old request back to the top of the pile.

I'm right behind Xan's staunch policing of the bumping policy when it comes to those jerks who post whiney 'please take my request!!!' posts on their own threads to bump themselves back to into people's attention. But most of the requesters are cool and don't push it too far. Besides, if nobody else is bothered by this I'm fully prepared to accept that it's just my neuroses and I'll deal with it... ;-)

Does have an odd revolt feel to it, doesn't it? I do enjoy being a Council Member but if my time is up then I guess it is. Can I run for reelection? :P

Mercy

Hey Drig, nobody's kicking you off the council, are they?

I think the original Council was;
* McRage
* DredWulf60
* Hisham
* Lal-Khan
* Drig
* Asok

perhaps we can just add a few more names to this illustrious list?
Especially since we don't see much of McRage or Lal-Kan just now. (or am I just missing their posts?)

dredwulf60

Well I still try to check in frequently, even If I am prevented from doing any artwork for at least the next month or so. Voting on applicants is one of the only services I feel I can still provide to be productive at present. If I have been found guilty of inattentiveness however, then by all means I should be removed.

I never knew who was on the council...hmm. I am happy so far but I can hardly pay attention. I agree that having a few more that are more frequent may perhaps be a boon and ease whatever load that is placed upon some that have outside obligations. Need a moniker to be able to tell who is on the council and who is not...kinda like in a chat room where importants have a little mark next to their names.

Mercy

Yeah, there were noises a while back about getting icons that denoted if you were a Artist and Guild member, long serving poster, Admin, etc. but it kinda never happened...
Why did that never happen? I thought it was a good idea!
