SWAG, "You're my only hope!"

Dear Star Wars Artists' Guild,
My name is Jason Schilling, I am a 3D animator, working on an independant CG Star Wars Fan Film that may branch off into a web series, depending on its popularity and success, and also dependant on the number of talented volunteers I am able to recruit.

I was directed here by a friend of mine, who really wants to see this project come to fruition, but doesn't necessarily have the artistic skill to contribute. After seeing the stunning artwork on the site, I couldn't resist explaining the situation to you all; just in case there's the tiniest chance that some of you could assist, or lead me in the direction of others who could.

I am very excited about this project, and while it is at the very early stages in the production, I'm trying to find artists who might get as passionate about the subject matter as I am, who would love to see it finished, and their work come alive.

I'd prefer not to spill too much information specifically about the project, however I can say that the style of the animation will be similar to that of Clone Wars (on purpose) but that the story has been written specifically for older audiences, unlike Clone Wars. There are many characters that are new, and some that are 'canon' characters, but there are a good number of both that will need to be concept sketched so that I can more easily model them in 3D.

If anyone would be interested in signing on to volunteer, I realize I have very little to offer in return. This is going to be a community project, made for fun and experience, not for profit. (George would not allow that anyway) However, your work would remain yours, and anyone offering their skills that contributes to the final product would have full credit for that work in the credit roll at the end of the film, as well as on the website I am setting up for the project.

I have a few new characters that are based on real people, and I'd like to see what anyone can come up with as far as "Clone Wars" stylization is concerned. I have several medium shot digital photographs of a rather interesting individual who will play one of the main characters in the animation. For the time being, if you'd like to join the team, I'm basically using this character as a try out: Do a rough concept sketch of a "clone-wars-esque" version of this character to see if we're on the same page.

I can give a little more detail away privately, if anyone is compelled to assist. I'm currently looking for a full gambit of artistic know-how: Script writers, concept artists, 3D artists, texture artists, animators, video editors, etc.
Anyone that would like to help, please send me a PM.

Please let me know what you think, or if I have not provided enough information. I'd really like to get the community involved, as I think this will be a great project, and will be good experience for everyone.

Thanks!

I'd suggest shooting an email to crazyjayloc2003 ... he's an extraordinary 3d artist, and has been doing much work in it... for samples, you can see his work here

The reason I say send him an email, is because he hasn't been able to come here as often as he'd like to...

Thanks for the advice and assistance Xanamiar. I'll do that. I had a look at Crazyjayloc's work, and it's quite impressive.

Do you know of a way I may be able to get in touch with him? I tried accessing the roster on this site and was presented with an error.

I could surely use the help of a few 3D Artists, but I am desperately seeking talented concept artists as well.

My skills with a pencil and tablet are rusty and atrophied as I have not kept up with the craft as of late. With the monumental amount of work involved, I fear that even if this weren't the case, I would still need as much help as I could find.

Thank you again Xanamiar, and all those here in SWAG.

I managed to pull up his profile through the galleries, and sent him a PM. Sorry for the confusion there.

Xanamiar

No confusion here.. Hope he can get back to you. As far as concept work... Just ask the artists here if they mind you using what they've done as concept work, as long as you give them credit.

That sounds like an excellent idea. Thanks again Xanamiar, you've been most helpful.
