SWAG items

This came up in a request for a 40's like pinup peice of art. And I thought I'd make a thread about it.

We all know it costs quite a bit to run a site like this one is, thus why we have banners.

My thought is, why not set up a SWAGONLINE.Net store, where people can buy the wonderful fan art here that is donated by the artist for publishing. They would of course retain all control over their art, and would have the final say so on what it was used on. But in this fasion it would allow SWAG to become what it is really meant to be. A place that everyone who enjoys StarWars comes to for requests, and for making great pictures.

This would of course be up to Eclipse to decide whether or not he'd want to get into the legalities of getting everything put together. But I think it would do the site good to have several different items with the wonderful artwork that the artists here put together. As well as getting the artists some attention that they truly deserve.

Any thoughts on this?

Any monetary transaction that involves any and all instances of Star Wars would take us into the realms of a commercial site. And if we do not have license for it from LFL, we'll be sailing into illegal waters.

SWAG did sell swag before, but it was (IIRC) mostly our logo with the pen nib motif upon mugs and mousepads without the words "Star Wars" or anything that connected us to Star Wars.

Hmmm.. how about pieces of work that don't say StarWars in any way.. with the SWAG logo? Would that be fine?

Daktarris sounds more exotic, natch.

And congrats, Hisham, I actually had to really think about that comment to get the joke. You get a massive gold star in my book.
