Whatever you want to do, but to become an artist on the site who takes requests, you have to submit a Guild Application, which you will find the link at the top of the page.

Look forward to seeing your art.

If you are wondering how to go about becoming an artist, or getting your quality up to the level required to get accepted into this Guild...there isn't an easy answer. There are lots of books and internet tutorials to help.

Some have had formal training in the arts, others are self-taught, many have some mixture of the two. Generally the best looking work is done digitally these days, but there are of course exceptions. Very few people have enough raw talent to do good work right off the bat. It's a matter of constant practice. Even getting accepted into the guild is really just another learner's permit. It's a place to showcase your work, help people out, and most importantly to improve your own work and possibly expand your style repertoire.

I've actually enjoyed Google SketchUp. It's rudimentary as 3D programs go, but that's a good thing for me...

I've never used anything but photoshop 7. I don't generally like the look of 3-D work, so I've got no desire to learn it. But to each his own.

Yeah...it is. Mine was given to me. Earlier versions of photoshop are less expensive, and probably do most of the same things.

I've always got on well with Photoshop 7 as well. It has all the functionality I need, that's for sure, and must be at least five years out of date by now so, if you can find a copy of it, it's bound to be cheap.

As another new member, does anyone have any idea roughly how long it takes to process a Guild Membership application at the moment?

Xanamiar

it all depends on how long it takes for Eclipse to see it there, and how long it takes the council to approve of it. So I don't think anyone can tell you for sure how long it will be. The last artist that I know of that put in an app, was posting pics 3 days after he asked about it.
