Group Pic - non-Star Wars - please read

Hello!
I'm trying to get a group pic done for a game that shut down a few months ago. This game went on for some time (9 years!) and has a special place in my heart and I'd like to get an image I can get printed at a Kinko's at 8x10 or larger.
The setting is the 1950s and the image would be similar to a "unit picture" that the military does - the characters lined up for the camera, a black board in front of them with the unit, place, and date. I have a package of character descriptions and some photos for examples, along with a stick-figure image to show placement.
The characters are part of a group of soldiers and civilians that hunted Martian spies and saboteurs during the early days of the Cold War. real "Indiana Jones" kind of stuff, mixed in with the flying saucer movies of the time.
The image would be fairly realistic, though a lot of detail isn't necessary - the clothing and expressions would be the biggest part, plus a general resemblance to the characters as described.

I know this seems like a big project, but I'm hoping that someone that can do a real-life kind of image is looking for a challenge.
