Hey Y'all,
I have been trying to make lightsabers using photoshop 5.5. I have downloaded tutorials from the net but when I try to follow the instructions it does not come out correctly. It is a bit difficult to find a tutorial that deals with PS 5.5 because it appears that the people making the tutorials either leave steps out or assume that you know how to use photoshop.

If anyone has any advice about making lightsabers in PS please let me know or kowns a detailed tutorial to downlad.

The quick and easy way is to create a layer for the lightsaber blade, then alter the layer properties (by right clicking on the layer in the little layer window) and select Blending Options. Then select Outer Glow and play with the settings and color til you get what you like. Then just draw the white core part of the lightsaber and the rest will show like magic!

Thanks Asok,
There are so many different tutorials and I guess they assume you know how to use PS. I have had mine for a little while but do not know that much about it.

Whether that is PS or anything else, keep in your mind the tactics behind it. Such as to understand the computer its essential to keep an eye on the hosting, web hosting and the other computer related tactics.

Gaussian blur, homey. That's all you need. Create the saber blade on two laters (the white part on top, the colored part beneath it), then go to filters> gaussian blur for both. The white part usually pretty low (you want it to be fairly crisp), the colored part usually round 5.0 or so, depending on the size and resolution of your image. I'm sure you can figure out the rest by looking at it.
