I'm glad to see someone feels the same way. These ads are pushing it...

Funny, but I have to admit, since they stopped using artwork and started posting photos with models, they look like ads for something else!

I don't like 'em either, especially since they stopped using Artwork!

I loved the artwork ones! Especially the last one - I was trying to think of ways I could have a go at the 'golden sun-kissed' look the artist managed to get...

I mean do we really need thirteen year olds to be saturated with sex everywhere they go? I'm all for sex education, but sex promotion lately has been a little high... Last time I checked, our populations didn't need a boost.

Sorry to get all worked up bout this but I don't really like this game coming to my court and detracting from our neat and clean website. There's plenty of wonderful places for this stuff to be on the web. I already have had several people, since that ad has been on, wondering what site I'm on, thinking Swag is something pervy...

RPG.net forums are having the same problems with the Evony banners.

Yeah, the banner ads started out looking like drawn art but the well-endowed blonde on the current banner is just a bit unsettling. The Evony lettering is smaller then before so you do not really know what the banner aid is about.

I clicked one of the old banners to see what it was... don't know why they have a half naked woman on it anyway.. it's just a strategy based PVP war game... something like AOE.. but different.

Making it sound like something dirty and bad but when I click and started playing there is nomore blonde busty women... Just LOTS of poeple trying to get my to join guilds.

I might just be jaded and cynical (ok, I know I am, shush), but I do see those ads as PG. I mean, it's cleavage- big deal. It's also badly airbrushed with a chick who has the expression equivalent to the IQ of dry toast.

Of course, I also live in the land of bikini baristas wearing nothing but a thong and pasties, and I'm OK with that too. If Evony ads are paying the bills, I'm OK with it.

I mean, they definitely know their demographic...

To be honest I've done work where the female characters were wearing about as much as these girls, maybe less... Don't know if that makes me a bad person now, but I'm feelin pretty unrepentant at this point, I gotta admit. If Leia's outfit in the 'Jabba's Palace' bikini is still the benchmark for clothing coverage on this site I think we can't complain too much!

I live outside of Seattle, Mercy. We have TONS of bikini latte places, hell- we even had a bikini fireworks place last week for the 4th of July.

I personally consider the Jabba's Palace bikini pretty much G-rated. I mean, you can't see anything but belly and hips- it's like I Dream of Jeannie. There *is* such a thing as tastefully and/or artistically revealing, you know. When it's done well, the humanoid body can be a thing of beauty. (Wow. Almost wrote that as "human" then had to catch myself.)

Would you call Michaelangelo's David or Botticelli's Birth of Venus PG-rated? I wouldn't.

It might interest you to know that public nudity is not strictly a crime in NZ!
'Indecent acts' are considered illegal - like if someone flashes you on a street, because the purpose of this act is to distress or offend, but as far as I understand it you're allowed to go topless on any beach in New Zealand if you feel the urge to.
We even have a yearly event in Wellington called 'Boobs on Bikes' in which, well, there's a parade through town of bikes and ... um, yeah...

The women here in the early ninties fought and won the right to go topless based on the fact men could,,,and much to my distress now hardly any do...I ask, is that fair...lol

There's also actually an annual Naked Bike Ride through Seattle. Usually a couple thousand people a year doing it.

I always seem to get a glimpse of the hippie chicks that haven't shaved since 1964 and none of the hot muscular man-types I like. Icky. Icky. Icky.

I have to say, though, that the few pictures I have seen of naked bike riding - my first thought hasn't been 'hot!' but more 'ouch!'
I mean, I like men (don't get me wrong!) - but that don't look comfortable...

Yeah, it's not a pretty sight, really. I'm going to go etch-a-sketch my brain by reading Darths and Droids until that image is gone.

So, first I have to apologize... the real world keeps me off of the forums much :-)

Second, I've been struggling with this as well. The Evony ads have not gone unnoticed on my part, but as has been pointed out here a few times, it's within the guidelines we use for art and they pay the bills... be that as it may, they DON'T pay the bills if my audience is blocking them... (hint hint) :-D

Personally I have more issues with the dating ads that come up. All of this has been pushing me to seriously consider the possibility of getting ads I can more easily control. I can block any ad from swag, but the ads that pay the most are the ones that are showing... I've only blocked maybe 3 or 4 ads in the entirety of time they've been running on the site, so...

If the Evony ads are really offensive, I'm not opposed to blocking them. I'll check back here, so keep posting your opinions.

So, I've blocked the Evony ads. I did this for a few reasons, namely 1.) tastelessness, 2.) that users were blocking the ads.

If you have an ad blocker on, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE turn it off. The ONLY way that swag makes money is via our ads, so an ad-blocker is essentially denying SWAG of income.

Hey, Roz, I'm not saying that Mercy doesn't draw extremely attractive figures, nor am I saying that the Evony-chick is slightly too airbrushed for my tastes, as Xan stated...

So, I guess what is boils down to, is this: every lady is attractive in her own way. In fact, I'd go as far as to say, that I haven't met a woman that wasn't attractive in some form or another, during the adventure that I call "my life"...

But now I digress. Ads are a necessary evil, and I'd rather see the Evony-ad than some of the more disgusting ads I've seen on the web.

Well this is MOST interesting (the ads still showing). I'm going to research this more, find out what's going on. This may be an issue that Google needs to look at. I'm MOST interested to see where this goes.

Um, as I'm reading this, (5:52PM PDT, Wednesday, August 12, 2009) there are two Evony ads visible on the page. I've seen them here a couple times lately as well.

I'm looking at alternatives, will keep you all in the loop.

I've got to say the new Evony girl looks a lot better... at least she's got a pretty face, and doesn't show so much skin.

Zazzle.com = best banner ad we've had on this site. Seriously, check that site out. It is awesome.
