It is with great sadness I pass this information on. Aaron Allston has died, he will be greatly missed. I only met him in person once, but his insights, given freely and with great passion were a joy to experience and we are all less for his passing. My heartfelt condolences to those who knew him better than I and loved him. You can read more here:

I didn't even know who he was. But it's always sad to lose someone in death.

Very sad to hear this-- his name has been all over the bedroom bookshelf since my husband and I first moved in together- but my husband/GM especially so. He just told me he'd always kind of quietly/secretly hoped for the day that Aaron Allston might come visit one of our humble conventions here in Oz, we always seem to have the best time chatting to authors, and Mr Allston is definitely one he's been reading for many, many long years.
I... think I know where I'm next going to delve into that big old bookshelf, myself.
If you've not read the Rogue and Wraith Squadron books by Stackpole and Allston, they are amongst the best in the entire EU. Happy reading.

Agreed. Epic stuff. Wonderfully blended action, adventure, humor, and characters that really stand out.
