Photoshop CS4 question...again.

I have hit a wall. As I am drawing, I get ahead of the computer. I did not used to do this. AND, it will occasionally add a solid black line that is perfectly straight. This is a new problem. When I work, like I did with the Wookiee Fur, is when it happens. Never happened during the Wookiee pic.

Tried new batteries in the pen. Not sure if it could be the computer, Tablet or program. I think my next step would be deleting some old files to create space and free up some memory. But I figured I would ask around here as well to see if anyone may have had this problem.

Ideas???

Probably Ram problem from the sounds of it...

What's your Video card in your computer?... Is it onboard, or seperate?...

Also how much ram does your computer have?

Asok

Yeah, sounds like a RAM issue. Sometimes I have a similar problem with the rogue lines - that's generally a keyboard/tablet problem. Usually a sticky key or button. But the lag is most likely a memory issue. A friend of mine built me a new computer recently with a godlike amount of RAM, and I haven't had ANY problems since.

Yeah, ram has a tendency to cause all kinds of issues. And if your video card is onboard ((meaning it's actually part of your motherboard)) then it shares system ram, so when the system goes slower, your video processing starts having problems.

I'm have a Techy business doing computer repairs and sales.. so this is something I actually run into quite often.

Upgrading as Asok did will solve the issue but sometimes just optimizing your system will alleviate the problem. There are a lot of system settings you can adjust to release your ram.

I couldn't fix an abacus. Damn little wooden dowels. Got a Nividia 880 onboard. Dumped a ton of pics I downloaded for who knows what reason, and got rid of a crap ton of PSDs that I use to draw on and then put together. Seemed to help some. Thank you all. Will look into video cards.

Looks like system32 is the problem...

*disclaimer for those who need it-
never, ever mess with system32; that was a joke.

Asok

Hahahaha! For a second there... I thought you were actually going to go through with that joke. That'd get you kicked off a forum quicker than a drunk uncle off an appalachian porch.

Casca... type into the search field ((after hitting start)) msconfig and go to Startup.. click Disable all.. then click on your antivirus to make it start up. Click okay, and restart your computer.. This will free up a lot of your resources, and make Adobe run better.

I live in Appalachia Ohio. The goal is to keep the drunks ON the porch. Or they go visiting the neighbors
....They never want to see drunks as much as drunks think they want to see them.
