Special Effects
Okay, so I've started on a drawing (one of many I plan to do soon) and I have the figure standing with his hand outstretched. He stands powerfully, and every other inch of his body suggests that some kind of power radiates from that hand. However, I'm not sure exactly how to draw the effect I'm looking for, and I tried a lot of times but with results measuring from it looking like his hand was physically holding, to the opposite flow of power where I wanted it to be. (The effect indicates that he is pulling in, but his hand, which is flat and...well, I suppose it doesn't matter.)
I just can't seem to twist any sort of special effect from the lines without canceling out the flow of power his stature, pose, and clothing (whipping cape) indicate. Can someone plz help me? I'm at my wit's end!

Note: I'm hoping for something like fire shooting from his fingers, lightning striking into the palm of his hand before being shot out by his outstretched fingers, something dramatic.

Is the hand outstretched towards the camera, or elsewhere? Do you have a rough sketch of the artwork?

So, the hand is outstretched toward the right side of the picture, the fingers are flat, and the thumb is extended. I do have a sketch of the pic, but I don't know how to upload it and it's not exactly aesthetically pleasing anyway...
