New Creature
Okay this request is focussed around a creature I have in mind as a pet for my character Ryavar Darek.
Since there are not really any wolf-/doglike creatures in Star Wars, I hope that someone has interest in creating one.
Currently the creature has no name - in my opinion it makes more sense to name a creature after you have picture of it.
The idea I have in mind is a big(and I really mean BIG) wolflike creature with cat features like retractible claws, great jumping abilities, a tail used to balance while running and jumping and whiskers. One problem is that it should not look like a real wolf, it has to have the distinct touch of Star Wars. Maybe it is saber-toothed, maybe it has more than four legs. I leave this to the artists creativity.
One thing I would like to see, is that the creature has a furpattern like a black Akita Inu.
The story of the creature so far:
Through unknown means(probably poaching and smuggling) some of these creatures have spread throughout the galaxy, most of them are found as exotic pets of extravagant nobles and wealthy persons.
As the real homeworld of the creatures is not known, the goverments often put those lucky specimen that are freed into zoos or wildlife parks.
Since the creatures have not been properly researched yet, only little is known about their behaviour. What can be said is that they are carnivore mammals, hunting both as single individuals and as packs of at least three up to ten specimen. A single female specimen bears up to six cubs at a time.
Though both sexes are involved in hunting and brood care, a strong sexual dimorphism exists. Males can weight up to more than double than a female.

sounds kinda like a narglatch from SWG .. home world is Corelia/Talus I think...

Narglatch? They are too amphibious and are native on Naboo - plus I think they are too catlike.

There is the Ghazar, native to Duxan abd it's moon, dut, it has scales and not fur (Ultimate Adversaries Page 87); Mantessan Panthac, native to Mantessa, but it dose not sport the coloring you described, and has not the retractable claws (Ultimate Adversaries Page 102); are any of those close to your vision?

Not really...
Another reason why I would like this specific creature is that I want to introduce a few planets of the unknown regionsm with both sentient and nonsentient lifeforms. This creature would be one of those nonsentient creatures.
So if one of my two requests is finished, another one will follow ;).

Do you want it to have a monstrous look, or a fierce but potentially cuddly look?
Like the difference between a baboon and a chimp for example...
Or a trandoshan vs a wookiee.

Good question...
A fierce but potentially cuddly look - like a guard dog or wolf.

Would it look like a black Correllian Panther? (A muscular, puma-like creature with saberteeth?)

Sorry, overlooked that there was a new comment...
Do you mean the Corellian Sand Panther?
If yes...the length of fur is what I had in mind, but it IS a cat, plus it is venomous - the creature I'm looking for has catlike features, though it IS none.
Something, which would definitely look good could be a creature with 6 or more legs - gives it a really exotic touch. Something the artist, who takes the request, could play with would be the snout - there are many different forms, like the flat boxer-like one or the long, slender one of a greyhound.
PS: I know, I am pretty fussy
PPS: I already have an idea for the next creature, which will be inspired by the musk ox. If there is no one with interest in this request, I will post this idea , so there are several things an artist could do here.

I'd like to see this one done, I have a love for wildlife illustrations and Terryl Whitlatch's "Wildlife of StarWars: A Field Guide" is a big inspiration to me. Though I have an interest in this one and a couple of ideas for it I don't want to claim it at the moment, since I currently have a request on the go and other things going on. Be persistant though Ryavar! :)
Obviously you want something quite specific and unique, but have you seen Anoobas before?

Yup, have seen Anoobas before. They look like a breed between a Chihuahua and some sort of dinosaur ^^

A Chihuahua crossed with a dinosaur? Darn, that was one of the ideas I had for your creature! ;)

:D
Way to naked IMO.

JawaStu, have you an idea which implicates a creature with bone-plates? If not, this might create a new idea ;). Had the idea when playing an older game and seeing an Ankylosaurus.

Since there does not seem to be any interest at all, I withdraw this request.

With the mighty tool "SPORE Creature Creator" I made a quick image of what I have rougly in mind - though as with all programs, the possibilities are still restricted.
Rough idea
Basically it is a wolflike creature with 6 legs and features of cats and dinosaurs.
It's fur can vary in color from white to black, including various tones of gray or brown.
The eyes of the creature are shaped like the ones of a cat, the ears are clearly feline but it's snout is like the snout of a boxer but equipped with saber-tooths.
The claws are retractable and can be used for climbing.
The tail(which I had to improvise) is feline and is used to balance.
The whole back, the head and parts of the side are protected by thick plates of bone.
On it's planet, this semi-sentient creature is neither the biggest nor the strongest predator, but still it is on top of the food chain, as it is versatile and uses pack-hunting tactics to bring down even the greatest prey.
It's habitat is as versatile as the creature itself - it can live in forests, on plains and in mountainous regions as well as in deserts, swamps and in tundra.
Evolution has led to lots of subspecies of the creature, each adapted to a specific habitat.
The one I'm describing here is just the most spread one.
Maybe there is someone interested in this one?
