Life in the way???

I feel bad. I get all excited about seeing request, read and then get disappointed. I was grumbling to myself when I started looking. We in general hardly ever do request. I know that it needs to spark our interest. I also know that we don't get paid. I just started looking, and was all....damn. I don't have the best attention span, and get side tracked easily. But I have put stuff up. I have done art. Hell I did lots of stuff just fooling around. I could have drawn something for someone.

Then I feel sorry for Xan who has to keep these people calm. Heck, I couldn't even give you a list of artist that still do request. Just feeling guilty I guess. Rant done.

I think Mercy burned herself out by doing a LOT of requests.

I have to say though, we have had more art work being published lately then we have in a long time.

And don't feel sorry for me, I enjoy helping out the community. The other day I deleted a request because the requester was rude towards the artists with sarcasm.. I just got rid of the entire request.

It is nice to see people filling requests, but honestly, the requests I've looked at don't really give much inspiration.

Yeah, have to agree with you there. I'm happy to be back and I'm picking them up as I have time, but I'm with ya, it is kinda slim pickings with the inspiring requests.

I am just afraid that the ones with good request won't post seeing request with months and not so much as a comment. We had a few good ones in a row there. Now a lot of space bunnies.

I think SW RPG itself may have been tapering off lately, with WotC losing the license and no new content. Maybe that will change now that the FF books are out...

But yeah, life has been getting in the way. I've been so busy with school and commissions and the like... I feel bad for not doing more around here lately, but like Casca said, I browse through the requests and I just don't see much that catches my eye. Hopefully it picks up again soon.

Though it may sound like it isn't fun, perhaps the way to try and bring in fresh new stuff is to buckle down and finish out the old stuff, even if we don't really care for it? I know we all do this for free and with our spare time, but if what is holding us back is this stockpile of misfit requests, maybe we as the artists of SWAG need to hunker down and do what is best for the site and clear them out.

Xanamiar

If anything, I think that http://swagonline.net/forum/49 this is more likely the culprit...

Requests that have been picked up but never finished. Being worked on for a couple years. I understand everyone gets busy/loses inspiration... But so many pieces that have been claimed but are just sitting there.

Xanamiar

Just so you all know.. We've had 23 of our artists check this site this week. You are all still around... just not finding inspiration I guess :)

Xanamiar

Okay I just did a Massive clean up... took out all request that are older than a year, with the exception of two, because the requesters have shown interest in still having them done.

that leaves us with 2 pages of requests. Should make it easier :)

Lal-Khan

That should help.

Oh, maybe a contest between us artists? See who can complete out the most requests (while still maintaining quality)? We might be able to get a few of the nonactive artists back into the fold.

Oh man, do I ever feel bad about this. I've been stuck on finishing my second request for nearly two years now... I've been picking away at it lately, and it will be completed soon, but I feel awful about it. It's never a matter of a lack of interest or inspiration, just that life & other commitments do get in the way. I did ask to join this community to produce much more than what I've done to date, though. I do check in quite regularly, I love this site and its great to see the quality of work produced around here - it's very inspiring.
