A-wing Varient

Well i been interested in the A-wing's history lately, and its pretty much stated that Jan Dodonna had to scrap his original plans for the fighter when he was presented with the reduced funding and redesign it to use readily available parts that they push beyond normal specs. What could have the A-wing looked like if it had the max funding? Well I think it would be something of a combination of these two images. http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy14/redbattledragon/AAW3.jpg About the size and overall shape of the left one. I like the engine placement, to me it seems it would help with the craft's maneuvering. I really like the engine "intakes" as well. Not so sure about the weapon placement, seems like it would be distracting to the pilot, so maybe they would be recessed inside the craft, maybe mid way down the slope at the front of the craft? I know that's where the missile launchers are suppose to be but I was thinking they could launch/drop from under the craft. From like a outcropping under the craft, could allow for ease of rearming the missiles and such. It also has a pair of ion cannons under it as seen in this next image. Maybe they can stay there but would it be too a disadvantage or some technical flaw to have them place near the laser cannons? http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy14/redbattledragon/AAW2-1.jpg http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy14/redbattledragon/a-wingA.jpg Here I like how the engine's thruster nozzles look. All the seemingly sharp angles seem to say "advanced" to me, so I'd like to see some of that element added. Keep the typical A-wing color scheme, the stripe down the middle, but lets stay away from green blue and red. Maybe Black? Thanks in advance to who ever decides to take this on. Have fun with it. :D

I always thought the A-wing was too small and delicate to be a good scrapper. If I had designed it the ship would have had heavier shields and thicker armor. The weapons I thought were enough, but only being able to sustain almost no damage was and still is its only downfall.
