Twi'lek female, too clever for her own good [Mercy]

Hey-hey, first request ever!

Name: Nyssa
Race: Twi'lek, female
Colors: skin is a rare shade of turquoise, somewhere between blue and green, with a slight irridescent sheen to it - eyes are a darker, deeper version of the skin color
Age: older teenage, in the "barely legal" range
Description: Nyssa is a genius. Though she has the typical Twi'lek "hawtness" going for her, it's her brains that see her from one flight crew to the next. And occasionally from one Empirial holding cell to the next. She's a slicer, a pilot, a tech specialist, a grease monkey, the kind of girl whose oversized utility belt is always brimming with tools and half-assembled technical doo-dads and who wears the scent of welding ozone like perfume. She's smart, she's funny, and she is T-R-O-U-B-L-E.

Somebody please bring her to life!
Thanks so much!

Drig

This sounds like an awesome request. Wish I could grab it but I dont think you can have more than one request at one time.

Skwishface

*bump*

Just thought I'd bump this thread and let y'all know I'm still very hopeful that somebody will bring this little Twi'lek to life.

Thanks!!

Evan Black

No need to bump it. The request pile is only one page, and the artists are cycling through requests pretty frequently. I'm sure with the high turnover rate

I think the biggest problem why this hasn't been taken already (apart from Drig's prior obligations) is that most Twi'lek females on this site are a "rare" shade of turquoise, and can be considered of "barely legal" age. It also seems a given that Twi'leks featured on this site default to "hawtness", as you put it. Some even have a close resemblance to an oversize utility belt. It seems to me that this little Twi'lek has already been brought to life.

Skwishface

ha!

Well, I suppose there's not a really nice way to say "your boring unoriginal idea has been done to death". She may not be overly inspiring to you, but I sure think she's keen.

The Twi'lek art already on this site is undeniably excellent - I looked through it before posting my request, just like the guidelines suggested. But none of it quite had that spirit of mischief and intelligence that I was hoping would be inspiring to one of the SWAG artists. If that's not the case, that's cool. Can't win 'em all.

Evan Black

Well, that may be the case. Someone else may likely share your fresh perspective on this piece and jump on it soon enough. I'm just saying that I don't see anything different about this one, and would suggest spicing it up with more than cosmetic differences.

Skwishface

Evan, you are raining all over my parade.

I think you stopped reading my original description at "Twi'lek female". I gave lots of description outside of the cosmetic. Adding more would, I believe, only end up limiting the artist.

Evan Black

That was not my intention. I was merely expressing my feelings why this piece may not have been claimed yet. I don't deny that whoever does claim this will create a unique and intriguing character that is true to your vision of the character.

Please understand that I did read your entire post, and even commented on several of the provided details beyond "Twi'lek female". It was very descriptive and even painted an exciting image, but I don't see how the exact same description can't be applied to several of the other pieces already on SWAG. You've already indicated that you've looked through the galleries and nothing had that "spirit of mischief and intelligence" you seek. That's perfectly fine. Please don't let my disagreement rain on your parade.

Perhaps in the future when I feel an urge to help a requester who is eager to see their piece rendered I'll just keep my big mouth shut...

Skwishface

You can disagree all day long, it's okay with me. I'll disagree right back, which is also okay. No worries there.

The internet is an imperfect medium for communication. Your initial posts came across to me as less helpful, and more belittling in a "run along now, uncreative requester" sort of way. But hey, this is my first request, so I don't really know the ropes. Maybe that kind of feedback is normal.

Eclipse

Skwishface,

If a guild member can offer advice that will help you get your request picked up, generally you should take that as "constructive" criticism, and see if you can find some way to help yourself out by following their advice. We're really about helping people out around here as best as possible, and often times that means giving them some criticism. Artists do it to each other's works all the time, and as such we're used to that medium of communication. Having known Evan for quite some time now, I can assure you that he wasn't saying it in a "Run along now, uncreative requester" sort of way. :-)

With that said, I realize we're just getting swag back up and running, but one of the long standing rules was to "not bump". The artists will read through all of these requests and bumping & not taking constructive criticism will in the long run just give you a bad name with the artists who might take your request, and that bodes badly for all involved.

With that said, I'll probably re-write this forum some time soon so that it doesn't sort by comment date but by date created anyway, so that will cure the bumping issues, but it's just a courtesy thing to other requests, and the artists trying to sift through them.

Noted, and thank you.

Sorry for the bump - I'm new, and didn't see any postings about the "no bump" rule. If that's posted, I may have just missed it - I'll look again.

Drig

And with the beautiful forum post and parade raining going on around here, I have decided to just claim this as my own. Is there an upcoming gaming date that you need this done by, because I can rush it for you. If not I should be getting to it very soon.

DOUBLE THE CLAIM!

Skwishface

What up, Drig? Happy (soon-to-be) Turkey Day!

Just wanted to see how things are going. Do you need any additional info from me about Nyssa's character? Just let me know.

Have a safe and fabulous holiday!

Drig

Sorry about the wait. I've kind of been biting off more than I can chew as far as requests go. Just trying to get 'em all finished. I've got two requests and a pretty big private request going on. Your image however is finished. It will be posted shortly. Keep an eye out for Nyssa!

Skwishface

Drig, it's fabulous!

You kept the hawt without it getting trampy, the utility belt and goggles are spot-on, and I LOVE the smirk.

Totally worth the wait! Thanks!!!
