Orcas Mer, Selkath Jedi Knight [Korris]

Hi everybody,

I was shown this place from a friend on another site (Sobchak on SWTOR, who received an amazing portrait courtesy of Asok), and as a result I thought I’d ask for your help.

My character is a Selkath Jedi Knight named Orcas Mer, situated in the time of the Old Republic. For those of you that haven’t played KOTOR/aren’t aware of the species, Selkath are a usually neutral aquatic species from the planet of Manaan – so one taking sides and becoming a Jedi is somewhat rare. He’s essentially a follower of the living Force, in training to become a Jedi Watchman of his sector. In keeping with the Selkath culture, he focuses more on non-violent resolutions of problems and negotiations: he’s no butt-kicking combat god. That’s not to say he’s a pacifist (he still carries a lightsaber), but that he’s more Obi-Wan and less Mace Windu.

In terms of character, Orcas is viewed as somewhat of an anomaly by his people, for both leaving Manaan and taking up the ways of the Jedi. He’s still attached to his culture in some small ways. Similar to Aayla Secura and Shaak Ti, his attire conveys his background. I envisage him as wearing traditional Jedi robes with the white underlay, but with a deep blue cloak replacing the standard brown one. Besides that rough outline, all is up to you. With respect to other details, I imagine him looking more or less in line with your average Selkath – a light blue head with darker splotches. Some examples are below.

I don’t have too many specifics in terms of image background; I’m more after a portrait. Single colours/white is perfectly fine. I am aware that a Selkath head is reasonably difficult to draw, so I’m not asking for any crazy ships or locations in the background. Seeing as how Watchmen travel the Galaxy, anywhere that tickles your fancy would be in character.

I hope this character grabs your attention, as Selkath are a pretty interesting species in my (biased) opinion. Thanks very much for reading this, I appreciate the time taken.
