Khas, Wraith bounty hunter and his adopted family [Lal-Khan]

Well, after some debate, I’ve decided to throw my character from the campaign I’m starting in a couple of weeks up here and see if I get any bites.

Khas is a Wraith (a la Stargate: Atlantis). The Jedi found a crashed ship of his kind on a planet years ago, and while the adults were too hostile to be reasoned with, they saved a small child and brought him back to the temple to raise, even though he had no sensitivity to the Force.

Seriously, could you imagine dropping off a Wraith child at a normal orphanage? Yeah, that probably wouldn't end well...

For the first two or three years, Khas was a handful; hostile, violent, and saw everyone around him as “food” or “vermin."

As the Jedi developed a serum to help meet his “unique” dietary needs, he began to calm down and act more normal. He was 12 when a human Jedi Master took him in similar to a Padawan and took him out into the galaxy. A few months later, the Master took in a 10 year old Twi’lek named Illiyah as his true padawan.

Over the next several years, Khas became a calm, serious, very intelligent young man, ruled by the ethics/morals the Jedi had taught him as well as logic. He viewed his Master as his father and Illiyah as his baby sister, and the three became very close.

Khas was finally allowed to venture into the galaxy on his own when he turned 25 and the council was sure that there was no danger of him feeding on innocent people. He chose to be a bounty hunter, but would only pursue legitimate government bounties, or capture embezzlers for big corporations; no indiscriminate killing, no matter what the price. The Jedi set him up with a small, cheap 2-man ship to help get him started, and Illiyah took her Knight trials.

Months later, he found himself at a small Republic outpost catching up with his newly-knighted sister as she oversaw a small squad of clones setting up camp for the evening. Their “father” was, at last transmission, on a front-line world leading a large clone contingent.

Order 66 came through as Khas and Illiyah stood talking.

Khas and Illiyah survived the clone onslaught, but Khas was badly hurt, and was forced to feed on one of the clones in front of Illiyah in order to save himself.

The two got into his ship and fled as Illiyah sensed more and more Jedi dying. Unable to reach either their master or the temple, they feared the worst. Khas panicked, and headed to the nearest Black Sun Vigo. He gave up his ship just to gain an audience, and then made an impassioned plea for the Vigo to give Illiyah a new identity and set her up on a safe world with a new life, away from the newly-formed Empire. The Vigo agreed, under the condition that Khas would have to work for him for as long as she was kept safe, including doing all the dirty bounties Khas would normally avoid…

Khas is about 6-foot 2-inches, blue-skinned, darker blue than the ones from Atlantis, but not quite as dark as a Chiss. His hair is slightly past his shoulders, and kept in a small pony tail. His sharp teeth are kept clean and polished, though he rarely smiles since most people outside his family are disturbed by his appearance. He generally hides his yellowish eyes behind some small, black sunglasses for the same reason. No mustasche, and I'm undecided if he has the small double-braided Fu Manchu-esque beard like some Wraith have (we'll let the artist decide if that looks right on him). His hands are covered by fingerless biker-type gloves meant to keep the palm he uses for feeding safely tucked away like a holster, and he wears a loose-cut black long coat that allows him maximum freedom of movement. He wears no armor aside from a light blast vest under his coat. His weapons of choice are a relatively-small 26-inch vibrokatana (similar to http://eknives.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/martial5.jpg) kept at the small of his back (for his left hand), and a small, but powerful, pistol for his right.

For his family, I have trouble imagining them, which leaves them very open to artistic interpretation. I imagine his “father” is mid-40s to mid-50s, and Illiyah is a 23 year old Twi’lek with a cheerful disposition, and she loves to have fun and make people (especially her big brother) smile.

Since I’m wanting Khas to be a more “human” (and humane) character than most of what I’ve ran in the past, I’m looking for a type of family picture, maybe the kind of thing that someone would have snapped without warning, catching them as they really are. If it’s pre-Order 66, obviously they’d be a lot more cheerful. If it’s post-Order 66, there may not be any cheer among them at all. It could be a picture of them getting ready for a battle, or it could be a picture of the two “kids” goofing around while “dad” watches with an amused smile.

Edited 11/2/07 because I apparently cannot spell "world" correctly.

in the SWAG tradition, YOINK!

A little warning though, I may be a little slow with the holidays around.

The late "Steve" Wraith (RIP), only without all the malice is the closest comparison. Not sure who played that role, though.

Hisham

I think Steve the Wraith and all the background Wraiths were played by one or two actor. Just as all the Wraith queens were played by Andy Frizzell since the pilot. The idea, I believe, is that all the Wraiths look almost alike. Which is why the muscle Wraiths have the mesh helmets on to obscure their faces, I believe.

In any case, I love the idea of a Pegasus Wraith in the Star Wars galaxy. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Yeah; they're kinda going to be our alternative to the Vong, because no one in my group cared much for the NJO series or the Vong race as a whole. That will come into play more in a future campaign, though, when their main fleet arrives.

Haha, will cross that road when we get to it, but that could lead to some nasty things. Iratus bug + Barabel or Trandoshan or Noghri...ow.
