Human Fringer/Pilot [Mercy]

Anyway, let me start out by saying that I appreciate any insight or work on this project. I'll give a brief background on the character, his personality traits, equipment, physical description, and then even post his stat block. If that's a no-no, then I'll go back and erase it. Never know, it could help someone get a feel for him.

Gannis De'Nolo was born on Dantooine in 17 BBY as a nerf herder (something he tends to keep secret). Being a farm boy who grew up being picked on by the local kids, he got a pretty good feel for how fights work. Of course, not content with a life of herding, he constantly dreamed of flying. Once his friend's family purchased a dismantled Cloakshape Fighter, he got the opportunity to fly around the planet and even learn Bocce at the spaceports.
Still young and stupid, Gannis eventually took a job transporting illegal goods in a junker to the nearby planet Bimmiel. Once there, his life was thrust into violence upon the discovery of an ancient obelisk. This all led to the loss of his arm, then downfall of the planet's government, and the gaining of a lightsaber from a mysterious man in a secret organization (this is something my GM never brought closure on - I believe they were the Gray Jedi or something similar).
In reaction to the violent happenings with the Empire, Gannis decided to move his family to Dac (Mon Calamari). Unfortuntely, the Planet Devastators arrived in 10 ABY. He had recently joined the planetary defense force and found himself quickly gaining rank in battle before leading his own squadron of fighters.
The Imperial Remnant still held presence on Dac however. Gannis investigated and ended up digging too deeply. His parents were kidnapped along with the couple of squadmembers that weren't killed. In the rescue attempt, his parents were murdered by a Dark Jedi right in front of him. Gannis finally used his lightsaber and granted the Dark Jedi a gruesome death along with anyone foolish enough to get in his way during their escape. At that moment, he only cared about revenge upon the Imperials and their Dark Jedi cohorts and found himself wanted by law, operating outside military jurisdiction.
The Imperials got what they wanted and disappeared. Gannis gathered his crew and set out to simply live on and even grab himself a little vengeance on the way if he can.

Honestly, the similarities with his current situation and Firefly are staggering. He is very much Mal Reynolds. Gannis usually has a biting remark or order to bark rather than some revelation. While conducting whatever job gets him money in his old Republic Cruiser, he also spends his free time training up on the use of his lightsaber. Though not necessarily evil, he will do what he feels necessary to accomplish whatever he's set out to do. Sometimes, the ends really do justify the means for him. Despite his attitude, he genuinely cares for his crew and will do whatever he can for them.

I've mapped out pretty much all of his gear. If any of you artists want the specifics on that, I can post it. For now, I think I've given plenty to read. Also, I'd like to leave room open for inspiration.

He has dark brown, wavy hair that rests just to the top of his ears. Also, he always looks as though he needs to shave (think Bruce Willis...or Artemis Entreri). He is of average height and build if not a little on the strong side. His right arm is cybernetic from his upper bicep and down, but he doesn't bother covering it up with synthetic skin considering that he has his lightsaber rigged to eject from it into his hand. Though, he will wear regular clothing like jackets or gloves without any thought about it. Resting in a low-slung holder on his right side is a heavy blaster pistol. If more detail is needed, I will provide it.
