Former Corvette Captain Freddy Bulsara, now just a tramp frieghter skipper [Monkeyman]

The character was one the captain of the personal transport of the councillor for his homeworld. This world was part of a cluster that had been colonized by a central system prior to being absorbed by the Republic. By the time of Palpatine's rise, this cluster still had a local cultural identity, but was very cosmopolitan.

A few years into Palpatine's rule, things started to change and the Coucilor started having mysterious meetings in deep space with mystery ships. Not long after, during a routine trip to the central world, the councilor was murdered and the crew of his ship accused. They ran!

Now, five years later, the Senate has just been dissolved. The Captain has a new ship, a YT-2400 with not too many lightyears on it, and he's considered a deserter and murderer back home. He hasn't been back.

Tall, dark haired, and solidly built, the captain still wears the flight jacket from his old uniform, black, hand-made from a local beast's hide, with woven gold wire shoulder boards that denote his old rank. Perched on his head, at a rakish angle, is the round white cloth service cap with black leather visor and band, his old planetary navy's insignia still in place.
The insignia is a pair of wings with a shooting star between them. On the leather jacket is a pair of pilot's wings, golden.

For clothing, a white, polo-style shirt and ordinary khaki or blue trousers, with walking-style shoes (athletic, but for walking, giving good sole and plenty of support).

Holstered on his right hip, a Merr-Sonn Model 44 blaster pistol. It isn't tied down like Han Solo's, more like how a police officer's weapon rides.

Hanging from his left hip is a haversak, a large pouch-like bag that could hold serveral items, like marcobinocs, a canteen, a couple emergency rations and a couple spare powercells for the blaster.

The pic would have the Captain with a datapad and stylus in hand, standing next to some crates waiting to be checked in for shipment. The Captain isn't unhappy or anything, he is more busy getting the job done, maybe even pelased to have some cargo to move.

I can supply a pic of an Actor that really fits the general look of this character - John Tenney from "The Closer" - he plays the FBI agent.

The jacket and cap are stright out of the WW II Kreigsmarine (German Navy) - see the film Das Boot - I can supply images for those really wanting detail.

I hope someone is interested in making this image, black and white/pencil would be fine, color even better. The game is just getting started and I'd likely have a first officer and other assorted scum (we're rebels, don't you know) down the line.

I am *ALSO* looking for help with a group image from 1950s Earth, having nothign to do with Star Wars. This would be more like a small military unit picture.

Thanks to all who check out this particular request!!!

Heya V-Man,

I'm tempted to grab this one but wanted to make sure that:

a) you're OK with my art style

and

b) you don't mind a little bit of a wait (a month or so)

Let me know,
Steve

Steve,

Wow, looking over your gallery, I'd be *honored* if you'd do my character. The images of Griznik, Raia Osyn, & Durvo Chub are great and the right kind of look for me. I didn't dream of a pic of that quality being possible.

I have some images of the uniform items and the actor I'm using as a guide. I can send you these, JPGs and scanned by Norton's Corporate, if you like.

My email is public, Velovich@gmail.com, feel free to shoot me some electrons.

Hi V,

If you can handle the wait (I'm thinking about 1 month, start to finish), then I will name this request

CLAIMED!

If you would, I'd love to have your reference material. I did some of my own searching and found a few things, but I'd want to make sure they matched up with what you had in mind.

Hit me at my work mail with your files. Anything larger than 5mb and we can make other arrangements

And Das Boot is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Later,
Steve

Hey guys, just for reference, bots come through forums and try to find email addresses like this so that they can spam you, the personal contact forms included in your profiles are there to help eliminate these sort of problems, so you might consider just pasting a link to your contact forms. Just a friendly reminder! :-)

Thanks, Eclipse! I've modified my profile per your advice!

Hey V-Man,

Just wanted to let you know that your pic is underway after some delays (real-world intrusions, I'm afraid). I'm very happy with how the initial drawing is turning out and once the pencil work is done, I'll post it in the blog as a WIP. It's turned into more of a vignette than a portrait, but I hope you like.

Posting soon!

Steve,
Thanks for the update! To be sure I understand, a vignette would be like a photo taken as the character went about his business, without his knowledge - a snapshot of his life. Do I have that right? If so, that's fabulous. While tend to use a lot of actors/actresses for character imagery, having one adapted to the clothing, etc, is just great.

Howdy Velovich,

Sorry for my lack of contact recently. My wife and I were expecting and our son was born last Thursday, so it's been a lot of diapers, feedings and sleep deprivation. I rushed out of the office to get to the hospital and left the artwork for the captain locked in my desk. I'll be returning on Wednesday and I promise to get right back on the s'wagon (hee hee).

I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Due to Absense of Artist, this one is being moved back to request.. ((Note: this does not stop the artist who took it from taking it again, if they return and want to complete the request.))

Monkeyman

Hi again Xan,

I also realized that you asked a question a few posts back (just under 3 years ago, whoops!). Our little boy is named "Riley" and he'll be turning 3 this coming Monday.

Cheers,
Steve

Xanamiar

No problem, and looks like Eclipse beat me to moving it..

Grats on Riley, again... and welcome back :)
