A follow up of this thread, it seems that someone has picked up the license for Star Wars, because according to Mongoose's Matt Sprange, their bid failed in favour of another company!

In other A Call to Arms news, I can now report that we did not manage to grab the licence we were chasing for the game - Star Wars. We weren't really expecting this one to happen (we made a sideways reference to it in the State of the Mongoose), but we got much further along than we thought we would.

The interesting thing is why our negotiations ended - another company beat us to it. We are not going to reveal who this is (you have heard of them), as that is their fanfare to blow. However, I am sure many will find it intriguing that the licence covers card games, RPGs, and... miniatures. Now, the company concerned is not known for its miniatures lines, which will probably put paid to my dream of 28mm multipart/multipose Stormtroopers.

But you never know...

Any thoughts to who might have gotten it?

I read that yesterday, and my first thought was: how funny would it be if it turned out WotC had bought it up again? What if West End got it again?? Are they even still around? Such mysteries...

Very interesting! I'll have to inform the squad next session- as I'm easily the least likely to have any idea who might have picked up the license. I hope we do see more minis... lovely delicious little minis to play with...

I swear to every possible god that if it got picked up by a Disney affiliate I will lead a squadron of Y-Wings on a run against Epcot Center!!!!

Because I am hopelessly naive when it comes to this sort of thing... what... what exactly would it MEAN for SWRPG if it got picked up by Disney? Or perhaps more accurately... what COULD it mean? The fervour of your response fills me with dread! D:
