Snow, snow, everywhere.

I live in the southern region of the United States of America and as of right now, there are approximately 8 inches of snow outside.
And it has started snowing again.
Is it just me, or is this just plain awesome?

Tusserk

I'm gathering that snow doesn't happen teeeeerribly often down that end of the US? Haha. I've just been pointed to some pretty great pictures of folks in Alabama rushing out for bread and milk...

Man, I wish it would snow here! We could really do with some of this surplus water over in my corner of the world being frozen...

Lord Crumb

I live in Northeast Mississippi, just outside of Tupelo, Mississippi and we got 5" of snow. Snow is rare in this part of the country and to get this much is just amazing.

Dang Tuss. sounds like you Australians got it hard. Snow is really rare in Tennessee, where I live too, so it's really weird that I had to shovel the porch today. So, Xan and Lord Crumb, y'all have any great snowball fights?

Tusserk

... it's insane! I can barely believe what I'm seeing.

So, you folks out there with all the snow, I want to see some great Hoth re-enactment photos y'hear!!

Xanamiar

lol ... re-enactments aren't my forte' ... And don't do snowball fights, too old, it hurts to stay out there that long. In Kansas, we got 4" .. not bad.. could be worse.

Seghast

8 inches of snow? Damn, what part of the state do you live in, Michael? I'm in Sumner County, just north of Nashville, and we have an inch and a half on the ground outside my house, maybe two inches on my car.

Michael

Yeah, re-enactments are hard to do when your family doesn't share your affinity for Star Wars and your friends live to far away. If only....
And Xan, you aren't that old. Just put on a coat and go peg some kids in the face.

I live at Chattanooga, on Signal Mountain.

Xanamiar

Has nothing to do with whether or not I CAN do it.. it has to do with how much I'd be paying for it in the morning. Not willing to go through that much pain.

Seghast

Yep, that would explain the difference. Still snowing here, but it's slowed down drastically; might be up to three inches now. Really glad I don't have to go out anywhere today.

Thank you Drig. I didn't want to be the one to say it.

But I am still a little jealous of Hish.

Michael

Woah Rozali! That's a lot of freaking snow! You have to live up in the northern region.
Drig, Asok, you party poopers. I can't believe that you would prefer to live in Cali than in Tennessee. Btw, y'all should here the song "Earthquakes and Sharks" By Brandtson. And what's up with Hish?

Casca1967

You guys suck. All I want is a good snow and it's like 8 in. to the east than nothing on me and dump on the otherside. I live in central Ohio...I get a dusting and the south gets all kinds...( mopes sadly)

Asok

Hish just gets to inhabit that beautiful slice of planet around the midsection, where it's always between 70 and 100 Fahrenheit. A little piece of Malastare, all to himself. Hopefully someday I'll join him.

Anyone want some spare water? :P

I'm normally quite fond of my little corner of the globe, to be fair. Never been so glad to live up on this stupid hill, though, I've gotta say, and I have never loved gumboots so much in all my life!!

Lord Crumb

Yeah, I saw the flood map of your area of Down Under and it just saddens me. I hope all will turn okay and your zoo animals make it through. The crocks really must like the additional water.

Haha, thanks man! I dare say the critters are having a better time of it than we are! ;) It's pretty spectacular and horrifying all at once seeing it go on around me-- and it's just amazing seeing what human beings will actually do for one another when it comes down to it.

Michael

Haha Asok, yeah, you just gotta love those methane lakes and Nexu.
Dang Casca, that really sucks. I know some people in Ohio and they were supposed to be getting about 4 inches yesterday. I don't actually know if they did or not.

swrpggm

@Michael: we did. Actually probably closer to six where I am. Lol. Very pretty.

The GM knows the will of the force.

Mercy

OMG! Tussy - you're not in Brisbane are you?!
Dude we're getting pictures on the news of the flooding over there, I really hope you're doing okay!!

Rozali

I actually live in NJ. So yeah not too much surprise.
And I hear England got a load too!

Tusserk

Yeeaah, Brissy's my home, Mercy!! We seem to be exceptionally lucky in our suburb though; the rain was absolutely insane, so underneath our house copped a fair bit running through from that, but we weren't in any danger from the flooding itself. Some portions of my work went under, the hubby couldn't get to work for a while, and we've got some friends and family stuck on the other side of the river for the time being, but... compared to what so many others are dealing with right now we're just so, so, so damned lucky. Our inconveniences just aren't worth even a shred of worry!!

My mind is absolutely blown seeing places I know and go to ALL THE TIME just... just floating, in pieces, underwater. And then when the sun came out with the rivers still rising... man, the world was just surreal. Completely unbelievable. It's hard to know exactly what to feel; we're seeing the best and the worst in people come out, some absolutely horrific stories, some absolutely brilliant and uplifting stories, you see and hear things that make you angry and upset, and things that you just can't help but laugh at... I dunno, we're just doing what we can to help the folks who actually NEED it.

Mercy

Hey Tussy!
Man, it sounds like you're having a heck of an experience over there. I'm sorry to hear that some of your work was lost - I'm sure many of the artists here can relate to that sickening feeling. But I'm glad to hear that you and the family are safe!
Big hugs to you and yours, darl! Let us know how things are looking when the waters drop a bit, yeah?
