Safe & Sound

A number of you have contacted me personally to make sure I and my family are safe and sound after the events that have transpired in Oklahoma. We are indeed safe, no damage to our house nor to anyone we know, so we are very blessed. I wanted to go ahead and post this here so that the community at large might know what is going on. On May 20th, Moore Oklahoma (about 30 minutes away from me) was hit with a devastating 2 mile wide tornado that flattened neighborhoods and a school full of children. Literally, this tornado wiped buildings all the way to their foundations and left just rubble behind.

As I said, I and my family are safe and well, however there are many who are not. A number of the organizations involved take donations and if you are compelled to give, I thought I'd put some links to their sites here:

"[The Redcross] is asking for monetary donations to buy needed supplies. To donate, go to http://www.redcross.org/okc, call 228-9500 or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation from your mobile device."

"[Feed the children] donations to help with relief efforts can also be made by phone at (800) 627-4556, online at http://www.feedthechildren.org/disaster, or by texting “DISASTER” to 80888."

More info can be found here: http://newsok.com/

Again, thanks to the many of you who have contacted me to check on my safety and the safety of my family. I appreciate it more than you know.

Oh hey!!! We heard about the tornado a-plenty over this side of the world, but I had no idea that you were from the area!

Very very glad to hear you and yours are safe and sound, the stories we've been hearing are pretty much horriffic.

Yeah, I was actually out of town for the event, by my wife, kids, in-laws and parents were all there when it happened. Luckily it wasn't super close (about 30 miles) but still too close for comfort. As my wife dropped me off at the Airport, my mother called her phone and told her the tornado sirens were going off in our neighborhood. My inlaws arrived from Korea the day before and they don't speak any English, so my parents decided to head over to my house to try to give her parents some idea of what was going on if possible. When my wife arrived she could see a tornado forming (which is something I've still never seen). Luckily that tornado was smaller and also didn't touch down, but still I got photos and it was awe-inspiring.

All that to say, close shave in some ways for us, but also that we're all ok.
