List of current SWAG artists

This might just be because I noticed that most of the requests just end up fizzling and dying in the requests forum unless it happens to be a cathar, twi'lek, jedi, or some combination of those, but I would like to know what artists are out there still drawing for SWAG. Some of the characters in the request forum are very interesting and developed characters and I am sure that their authors would like to see them come to life. Now I know that talented artists are ever so hard to find and I think that it is amazing that we have here at SWAG a group of talented artist willing to give their time to allow our characters to more fully come to life, but I would kinda like to see a list of who is currently drawing so that I could peruse their work and say "hey, that stuff is really good and I think that they could draw my character well." I know that most of the artist don't want want to be pestered by 30+ people a day saying "draw my awesome cool cathar jedi dueling a twi'lek sith," but maybe, just maybe, there are artists out there who would be willing to look at some requests of ours, and maybe even do them.

Hisham, Asok, Mercy, and a few others have been taking requests lately. The problem is, the requests outweight the current artists 100 to 1 ... (((Well almost anyway))

People around here know they have to be patient to have a request filled ((for the most part)) And they are usually fine with that. Asking anyone to take a request for free is a difficult task if it doesn't interest the artist.

If anyone want's their work done fast, and now, by a certain artist, I'd suggest roaming through Deviant art and find some that are doing requests for money. They are excellent artists, and will get it done fast.

For SWAG ... this site always has been, and always will be, about making characters for RPG's for free, and only when an artist feels motivated to do it, or inspired to do one.

I'd suggest patience beyond anything else. If an artist is inspired by a request it'll get done, but if not, it won't. It's pretty simple really.

Asok

Taking a look around my gallery, it seems like I usually avoid Cathar, Twi'lek and Jedi!

I love doing requests for unique characters, be they aliens, droids, cyborgs, pirates, rogues, techies, riff-raff and the like. That's my niche. We all have a niche here - some of us do more humans, more Jedi, more nobles, more scoundrels, more aliens, or whatever.

In the end we all do what we think is interesting.

Also, try browsing the artist galleries to find stuff you like. If there's an artist that catches your eye, you can privately message them, but I won't guarantee a response. :)

I cant speak for anyone really as an artist but myself. I love to do the request. It should be free but like Xan and Asok said, I need to feel the interest to take the request. I work two jobs and have health problems galore. I also do flash design for tattoos on the side and draw our 14 person gaming groups characters on top of that.

All in all this is what I do to relax. I will always take a new request as soon as I am finished with the one I am working. I truly wish I were faster and could put out more than I do. I have never been trained to do art and am guessing most of the time.

The only true way to be fair to requesters is to go to the oldest and start there. That would take care of old request and mean that any new request are guaranteed a hefty wait. And it would be unfair to the talent we have here and may drive them to not take request at all. I like the little system we have here. It is casual and working well so far. Allot of request get filled with few people, and that is what counts.

Casca - that's what I used to do before I got snowed under with PRs! Start at the back of the requests queue and move forward until something caught my eye. Invariably there'd be some request that I either missed on the last 30 passes, or which has been mulling in the back of my head and suddenly get a mental picture for. But the bugger of that is you have to PM the requester and see if they're still interested... which can take some time!

Coreogre, I know you're pretty new here, but you really do need to be patient. As Xan so rightly points out, there are a lot more requesters than artists and it takes FAR less time to request a picture than to produce one. I know there are some very interesting requests on the boards, some of which have been up and patiently waiting for ages - I wish I could do them all some days! But there is only so much time in the day and, since nobody is getting paid here, it should really be for enjoyment.
We artists work very hard, and I'm sure it wasn't your intention, but asking why we haven't cleared the request boards yet just seems a little rude...

If you're really interested take a look at the recently posted list on the main page. The other one is the 'Taken' requests pages. Either of those should give you some clues as to who is producing work and taking requests at the moment.

Thank you all for the comments on this. I know that the artists are by far less numerous than the requests and that any hope for getting a request done is long and distant in the making. I was just getting frustrated that many requests were getting filled while mine was scarcely even getting a look at. I am very willing to be patient, but I did want a list of who is currently filling out requests so that I could peruse their work and see the styles. I don't mean to be a bother or a nagger about this, and think that it is wonderful that people are willing to fill out requests like this. My talent is story telling through words, and I often envy those that can so effectively tell story through art and pictures, so thanks to all you artist out there that are doing such a good job.

Just so you know the best way to have gotten your answer without ruffling any feathers would have been to make a thread and just ask for a list of the artists who are active at this time.

The way you did it, has a sense of displeasure over your thread not being taken, which ruffles a lot of peoples feathers. Anyway, glad to help, hope you find someone to take up your request. It's always fun to see characters brought to life by the wonderful artists around here.

Hi Im back from a very looooooooong vacation and getting well back in the swing of it again.

My main specialty is starships/vehicles, Droids, armour and aliens. I try to avoid large peices of work such as scenes and entire parties partially due to the amount of time it takes to do one peice where i would rather have more people get their characters done than one person with many. Alot of my work in my gallery is old for when i was a padawan and you will see more of my work as i get requests done.

Requests, Ideally Id like to start with the older ones first. But theres requests here that are 2 years old and the pace of the games its often the case that these requests are now a little obsolete. If you do frequent the site and still have an old request in any of the above categories, point me to the request link and ill see what i can do. Generally i dont bother with any request older than 3 or 4 months due to this reason.

I do like pushing my boundaries with my work which is often 100% done in photoshop. Anything with a lot of textures/patterns/fur are techniques I want to have a go at next. (im pretty good at polished and slimy surfaces now but love doing them still). If you do want human characters with facial features its not really my forte, happy to give it a go, but you have been warned :)

I updated my request for a ZABRAK SECURITY AGENT,i understand you are all very busy but please check it out,i am LZI123

Xanamiar

LZI123 ... we don't advertise our requests around the board. The artists know where requests are when they want to take them. They are a busy bunch, and only take the ones that really speak to them. This isn't a place where you WILL get your work done. It's a place where if an artist likes it, they will take it. Please don't post in other threads about your request. Thank You.
