They didn't have to add Drig to the original trilogy but I'll let it slide this one time...

SERIOUSLY WHO IS WORKING AT LUCASFILM AND PUT DRIG IN STAR WARS.....??????
I know its not anyother dug because no other dug would be in Jabbas palace and not kill ree-yees in his sleep.

Drig

I think I should do a wookieepedia article about him soon before some author makes him sebulba's grandson or some crap. I need a reference though I think, someone wanna publish a web article about him?

Drig

Lol no. I wish. Just a random dug added to the bluray that happens to look a lot like Drig.

Asok

I mean, George Lucas really randomly added a Dug to Jabba's palace? All those "alterations" to the blu-ray set on youtube are REAL??

Boshuda

Drig

As far as I know, yes.

A semi-list of "restorations."

I bet they are doing this not just the for bluray version but in hopes of bolstering star wars fans when they release them in 3D. I bet a million dollars they will use these bluray versions in theaters. I think they are trying to repeat the success they had in finding new fans in 1995 with the special edition since star wars is not making as much money.

From what I hear they have the live-action show on hiatus due to money problems. At least they got a clone wars cartoon show. They swung and missed with the second force unleashed and I bet they are riding a lot on the commisions from the Old Republic and Fantasy Flight Games.

Star Wars is heading into another Dark Times is my prediction...

Drig

Also forget to mention that in the next scene of that youtube clip, it shows that they made Jabba's front door even bigger....

grendeljd

That is cool. Heh! Wonder how much more digital 'additions' are gonna show up, other than the clean-up/fixes mentioned in the article??

UnnaturalGas

This thread is now about bluray changes to SW.

How about that Homer Simpson krayt dragon... noise?

If I was Ben Burtt, heads would roll.

Mercy

Ma ha ha!! The only clip I saw where the new Krayt Dragon noise fit was a cartoon version where Obi Wan stood on a piece of Lego...

Drig man - you are now famous!! ;o)

UnnaturalGas

Lol Mercy, I've been watching that one over and over!

Also, nice work Hish. I noticed some of those things too :P

Drig

They allready changed the krayt dragon thing once, but I was okay with it. It was simply the call of a vractyl when they changed it and thats cool with me, no hurt feelings. One thing to note... the original was just a non-descript roar... thats all and that was fine... It fit. Why did they change it AGAIN! The roar was perfect, the vractyl made sense since im not sure if obi ever heard a krayt, but the other thing? Is that what a massive sand dragon should sound like? Ugh but I will probably buy them once they are in the bargin bin and everyone is on the "I've hated Star Wars since the begining, it wasn't THAT good," bandwagon.

Michael

Don't worry about them changing the roar. They'll probably change it again once they go into 3D.

Asok

I do want SOMEBODY to buy them so I can watch the special features! :P

It's awful that George is doing this. He's alienating future generations every time he makes a stupid change.

I have two children who I hope will enjoy Star Wars as much as I do, and appreciate the compelling story and its flawless execution. But I know, years from now, when they're out on their own, enjoying and experiencing their lives, and the subject of Star Wars comes up, they'll look at me in disbelief and disappointment, and I'll have to tell them how much better Star Wars was in my day. They won't believe me.

So sad.

grendeljd

I was eyeballing the set today... its definitely on my wish-list!!

Personally, I don't mind the tweaks to the original trilogy, for the most part... can't stand that extended 'band' scene in Jabba's palace from ep.III, though...

I actually still have a set on vhs that predates any fx updates though - I should get that transferred to a digital copy!

UnnaturalGas

"I'm hungry. Hmmm lemme see... I could make something new and tasty, or just reheat this thirty year old dish, again, to save some money..."

-What I imagine is going on in George's head

Asok

GAS - hahahahaha! YES

Grendel - I have each of the original films on DVD, and each film comes with two discs - one is the original theatrical release, no clean-up or anything - and the other is a restored version (no alterations, just restoration). You can get them at Walmart or amazon.com for pretty cheap.

Boshuda

grendeljd

lol - I have to agree, U-Gas! I'm not a fan of much SW material that has been set after the movies... it would be great if Lucas would step up and make a new movie [or 3] to get into what happens after RotJ.

Asok - Really??! I have a dvd set of IV-VI too, but mine only has the updated versions...

grendeljd

Well, my wife is awesome... I just got the blu-ray set for my birthday!!! Can't wait to dive into it all!

Asok - yeah, now I recall seeing those dvd versions! Not sure that I'd hunt 'em down, but good to know.

*oh, I made a mistake above, referencing Ep. III as the one with the extended band scene in Jabba's palace - obviously I meant Ep. VI.
