Well, it's out tomorrow, is anyone desperate to see it or are you luke-warm about it?

Personally, I do want to see it, but I'm not desperate, if I miss it at the cinema I won't be too worried, I have a feeling it might be one for DVD anyway.

I'm really excited, because of all the scoundrelish elements to it, however the reviews haven't been the greatest about it. Most reviews I've seen have gone two ways. The biggest complaint is that the movies are lame and childish, even for George Lucas. The second thing I've heard a lot of is that their is a lot of interesting ties to EU and fan connections that are sure to make fanboys excited. Kind of gives me a little mixed emotions about the movie. Also reminds me of the reviews for episode 1, which gives me some hope. If I really liked Episode 1, I think I'll like this...?

I went and watched it last night, because a friend invited me... And if it wasn't for the first movie projector breaking down, and they gave me a ticket for a free movie, I'd feel completely ripped off for paying to see this movie.

It sucked so bad, I hear Hoover is looking into buying it out.

I've just been to see it and I've got to say I really enjoyed it. Yeah, it's a bit kiddie, and I think you need to approach it as if it were a feature length special edition of a Saturday morning cartoon (which, hey, it is) rather than a full and proper epic addition to the movie series, but I found it watchable and definitely entertaining - I was laughing aloud a lot of the way through!

Then again, I thought Phantom Menace was the shining glory of the prequel trilogy and actually a rather good film, so maybe I'm just odd. I like the master-padawan relationship, and both Ep. 1 and The Clone Wars gently highlight it.

Evan Black

I really liked this movie. Yes, it was a kid's show, pure and simple. Nothing wrong with that, since I love kid's shows. But if you have any problems with simplistic and straightforward plots, dazzling eye candy, and goofy kid humor, then you will disagree with me in saying that this was a straight-up fun show. I'm looking forward to the series.

Xanamiar

I think my biggest problem with the movie was the fact that they definately dumbed it down for kids. They took away the Star Wars from it. I mean come on now, Star Wars without John Williams music scores isn't Star Wars anymore.

The other thing was the entire story plot... It just wasn't enough to keep my interest.

And the only thing good about Episode I was Qui Gonn Jinn, and they had to go and kill him off :( (but I still enjoyed the prequels a lot more than I did Clone wars :) )

Evan Black

I thought it still had Star Wars in it. Just because a story is simplified doesn't mean it isn't Star Wars. And the music was definitely different from John Williams' style, but I wouldn't say the music was bad. I actually thought they did a good job with it.

The plot was a little thin, though. I do agree on that, but at least there's the promise of more later. I like that the fates and futures of so many characters (Rex and Ahsoka) are left unresolved.

And I also like that even though Qui-Gon Jinn is dead, his legacy lives on. Anakin imparts vital wisdom to Ahsoka he learned from the Jedi who discovered him and championed his initiation in the Jedi Order. Good tie-in, IMO.

The music did bug me in the opening sequence. In fact, the whole of the opening sequence bugged me more than any of the rest of the film. Where is my scrolling text?!

Ahsoka's nicknames for things and the constant need to reiterate things that had been mentioned previously were also irritating - I'm pretty sure I wasn't so dense at the age of eight that I needed the significance of completing a certain task repeated three or four times in a hundred minutes to get what was going on.

But that was pretty much it for the stuff that got on my nerves. I will just stick my fingers in my ears and pretend that I never heard Ahsoka say "Artooie" and go on with enjoying the rest.

I've never seen anyone alienate themselves so much with just one sentence. ;)

Lord Crumb

I haven't seen SW: TCW movie, but I have greatly enjoyed all the SW movies. I reserve my judgement until I see it. I personally beleive that SW: ESB is the best in the saga.

Rylis

I wasn't at all excited about this, wasn't expecting anything good, and only saw it this weekend because I promised my little brother and sister I'd take them.

I actually ended up liking it a lot.

It's silly and childish and definitely for the kids, but it's still very fun and enjoyable. And I like Ahsoka a lot.

CCR

I think there's an awesome factor that's generally strong enough for anything Star Wars that no matter what, I'll get SOME enjoyment out of it.

Yalin_Selang

I can say that overall, yes, I liked it. There were a few things that were a little...for lack of a better word, creepy. Jabba calling anyone "Pookie"...was creepy. I found that, while little kids in the back row were laughing, I was mildly disturbed by the nickname. I found myself cringing at all the nicknames, actually.

However, I can say that I genuinely like Ahsoka and Rex. I like that Anakin is showing a little more responsibility, and I could reasonably believe that the Jedi Council would leave matters of import in his hands while he interacted with Ahsoka after the initial shock. Before I couldn't really see it.

I think it's worth watching.

CCR

I saw it today, and I liked it as well. It didn't have anywhere near the satisfaction of seeing an actual SW movie in the theater, but it was still entertaining. I think the unfortunate thing about it is that any character progression in Anakin's case is kind of a waste, seeing as we all know what happens to him in the end, and that in three years time, he becomes way less aware of what Jedi do and somehow loses whatever responsibility Ahsoka teaches him.

Also, the film would have made an awesome swrpg adventure module.

nerulean

I think it's about time Anakin got some characterisation. I was having trouble working out why the maladjusted, angsty young adult from episodes two and three would ever turn back to the light in six, but it's finally starting to actually make sense - he really is just a good guy who fell under bad influences.

Though I suspect Ahsoka may have a life expectancy of 99.5 out of 100 episodes of the TV show...

Evan Black

I agree with your prediction of her life expectancy nerulean. And I'm glad to see that Anakin's character is starting to flesh out for people. Anakin isn't-- wasn't-- a bad person. His is a cautionary tale of what happens when we fixate on our attachments and never learn to let go.

Drig

Saw it last night with Asok and I LOVED IT!

It was just fun to me. I think people need to chill about this movie, It's not the next big star wars epic... That's The Force Unleashed... This is the clone wars, remember those cartoon where mace windu pummeled thousands of super battledroids with his fists...? It was ment to be a little serial.

I really didn't mind everything that everyone's been complaining about even Ziro. It felt a little like watching episode 1, where its a little awkward and unusual with a mildly weak plot but it makes up for it just by being star wars.

If your holding out on seeing it and thinking, ill just wait for dvd, Please go see it with an open mind.

I also liked the character development this move takes. Unlike the prequels, this move actually keeps the camera on the Jedi after the fighting where we get to see the Jedi congratulating each other on their victory, talking about how they felt the force during the fight, planning out what to do next, or just taking a sec to catch their breath. Very cool stuff.

Bring on the T.V. show!

One of my RPG players has just attained the rank of Jedi Knight. One of my other players' 13 year old son wanted to try roleplaying, and so the Jedi player opted to take his character on as a Padawan.

After seeing Clone Wars the Jedi player says to me "If my padawan ever talked like that to me, I'd give him a double strength dose of the Yoda Treatment*"

*-Yoda Treatment: Extra rigorous training. Climbing, running, swinging from vines, one-hand stands while moving boulders etc.

Braltika

Saw it a couple of days ago. Loved it and hated it. Hm... The wooden and stiff characters and their animation is something I can handle in a 22 minute episode. However in a full-length feature movie, it comes across as cheap, amateur and lame.

The same critic applies to tbe story. So in general, it would have worked if split in three episodes for TV but was a waste of money as a movie. Me and my girlfriend were totally alone in the theatre though, so that was a nice extra.

CCR

Well, we won't go into why that was so great for you, ;)

I understand that it was actually the first three episodes combined into a feature, and you can definitely tell.

One thing I have to say is that the first cartoon series seemed to have a more serious tone than this one, and I hope that when it goes to tv, it does get a little more mature. Justice League Unlimited is definitely the template I would love to see them go for (not animation-- just storytelling).

Hisham

I just saw it a couple of days ago.

I went in expecting three episodes of a Star Wars saturday morning cartoon. I got exactly what I expected... and more, cause those clonetrooper battles were downright brutal, not something you usually see on regular cartoons. I loved it.

Can't wait for the episodes written by Paul Dini and Kevin Rubio.

Also, Bralt, pics or it didn't happen. ;-)

leonavery

Well, It needed a much bigger lightsaber battle, but all in all it wasn't TOO bad. I just hope the show goes more into the training a Padawan recieves, the movies were lacking in their scenes of it.
