i was just wondering peoples thoughts on the show.

as much as i tried to like the show i just cant.
first off i read the comic books and other expanded u stuff and i think they fleshed out the clone wars well enough.
when i watched the clone wars i always feel like they just ad to much stuff to the timeline of the clone wars.
i mean if you count the stuff from the comic books, books, cartoon, and the clone wars show i just find it hard to believe that anakin could do all these things in such a short time(i mean, i think he did more stuff in the span of the clone wars than luke did in 40 years)

the second thing i don't like it the art style.
i just really don't like it aesthetically. i remember how excited i was when i first heard they were doing a cg star wars show, then i actually seen and it was a big let down.
what bothers me is they said they chose the art style to appeal to kids, the thing is its star wars, star wars appeals to kids not the art style.i think when i heard bout the show i was expecting something more along the lines of the the old republic cinematic trailers.

overall to me the show was a big letdown.

but i do admit that asoka was the first character that i seen my nieces liking.
i never expected to see them liking star wars at all, so i guess the show succeeds in bringing young girls into star wars, which is cool in my book.

I totally agree in every way! I just like the clones, but the first season priemeire episode sucked but the attack on kamino was ok. I hate how they take everything from episode 3. The main thing I like are the troopers/droids and Asajj Ventress.

ventress is ok but i think she was much cooler in the comics.

but i do like how the show turned the clone troopers into actual characters, not just cannon fodder in the background.

Asok

I love how she fails at literally everything she does. Poor Asajj Ventress...

she manage to give anakin his cool scar, but wait she was trying to kill him *failure*

I love the show, and I love that my 10 year-old son and I can enjoy a new Star Wars adventure every week. Giving Star Wars back to the kids is a good thing, in my opinion.

If they ever get this live-action show off the ground, us grown-ups will get the cynical, harder-edged Star Wars we crave.

Tusserk

I enjoy it (well, recently watched the first season, have yet to see any further!), but in a completely different way to how I enjoy the original trilogy. I. J is right-- the cartoon is giving it back to the kids, and I don't see anything wrong with that.

I found a lot of the visuals to be quite beautiful, actually. I got a real kick out of the design of the planet on the first episode. Giant coral-trees? Heck yeah!!!

wookiebastard

I guess I can say now I love the show. At the beginning it was just plain awful. The show began to take off after the 13th episode, before that it was hideous and it constantly reminded me of the sequence at the droid factory in EP2. It began to really improve after they stopped showing Padme and Jar Jar... (but Jar Jar is showing up in the next episode... I fear the worst)

But overall, I think it´s good enough, one of the best 3d animated series I´ve ever seen to be honest. The quality of the show, apart from the scripts, is undeniable.

I can´t wait for the live action series. That will be outstanding.

That thing some say about bringing sw to the younger crowd... that´s exactly what they wanted, it´s not that they´re doing it because they´re cool people. They want more money, and enslave new generations of fans... lol. I mean, the special edition had the same purpose, so did the prequels and now this. But I can´t complain, the more sw the better.

Hisham

The show's an artist's dream, it's what it is.

The story is stretching the limits of how a war story can be told on Cartoon Network. Characters that are given prominence in one episode are killed without a single thought in another episode.

silk

but really, is anyone ever really sad when a clone dies.
its kinda what the do.

Xanamiar

It saddens me every single time a clone dies, until they turn on the Jedi, then you have to root for the Jedi to get even.

wookiebastard

Actually, since I hate Jedi ever since EP1 premiered.... I kinda have a certain affection for clones. In ep3 specially, when they turn against the Jedi, it made me feel kinda sad but at the same time I was like "it was about time, dude!"

In the OT you´ve got lightsabres only in like 10% of the movie... in the PT they always shove in the lamest excuses just to have someone pulling a lightsabre out.... I guess George forgot how to make a scene exciting without lightsabres.

Hisham

Last friday had quite an impressive X-wing battle (Well, ARC-170s at least and also including every starfighter type of the series featured thus far...), albeit the main action takes place in Tipoca City.

Hisham

Also, I saw ROTS again last week and because I've been watching each Clone Wars episode multiple times it's more painful to watch Cody, Bly and Gree turn against the Jedi (I don't think Bacara's been featured in the series as yet). It's clear that they do consider the Jedi Generals their friends according to the onscreen lines in both the series and ROTS. But the Order 66 directive was stronger than this friendship. It's probably an emergency directive in case the Jedi rebel against the Republic, which the Jedi probably approved themselves - never thinking Palpatine will use it against them during a critical moment in the war.

silk

i thought it was some sort of mind control hardwired into each of the clones that the emperor had put in, sorta like the cylons in battlestar galactica.

silk

the emperor was the ultimate manipulator, so it just seems natural to me he would have this imprinted into all the clones.

silk

i really don't know, that was just my theory based on the movie and nothing else.

wookiebastard

The Emperor WAS the ULTIMATE manipulator anyway, with or without the imprinting of the order into the clones. He pretty much did whatever he wanted without anyone noticing it.

Hisham

What was really sad was that the Jedi were the ones that treated the clones as humans, allowing them nicknames, armor customization and such. After Order 66, it was apparent even at the end of ROTS that Palpatine removed all these customizations - even the V-wings and the Venators at the end of the movie had their paint jobs removed. There was hardly any armor customization in the original trilogy.

wookiebastard

I think there was no armor customization at all in the Imperial Army. And besides the atmosphere at work doesn´t seem to be that good in the Empire. Stormies were just a bunch of unhappy employees that´s why they didn´t custom painted their armors o.O

Umm, one tiny nitpick there Hish, ;)

The Jedi Council didn't have an inkling or clue about the Clone army being produced on Kamino. It was all thanks to Dooku after he turned from the Jedi and became a Sith. Yet he had masqueraded as a Jedi, and likely had been given the funds from Chancellor Palpatine *cough* pre-Emperor Palpatine *cough*

So really, Order 66 and a numerous unknown other order codes, were programmed into the Clones by Palpatine's own request. In truth, the clones were the perfect Sleeper Agents.

Much like the Jedi Council was oblivious to the creation of the Clones (extra caveat here: Jedis can sense and feel the wholesale destruction of planets and loss of life, but can't feel the simultaneous wholesale creation in the hundreds of thousands of clone life forms occurring in one central location), they had absolutely no idea or inkling about the "Sleeper Agent" nature of Order 66 code phrase that activated the clones to exterminate the Jedi.

If there's any major holes and nitpicks with the Prequels, its that main fact. The Sith come back, kills Qui-Gon, Padme almost gets assassinated. Obi-wan finds the bounty hunter - Jango, tracks him to Kamino. Obi-wan finds out about the Clones in production, reports back to the council and says "Oh hey! We ordered a huge clone army of soldiers that we didn't even know about!" then as the Separatists take more drastic measures after blockading Naboo, good ol' Chancellor Palpatine makes his move for total control of the government, and declares galactic war, and conveniently brings forth the army of clone troopers....

Aside from that, I don't mind the Clone Wars cgi cartoon. First of all its, CGI, which I enjoy watching CGI types of shows (since Reboot, Shadow Raiders, Starship Troopers, etc). I do wish the CGI character model resembled closer to human realistic proportion than over-stylized cartoonish exaggerated appearances. Though its not so hideous as the short lived clone wars animated cartoon aka Samurai Jack style (sorry, just personal opinion here).

Ashoka has been an interesting secondary character as a padawan choice for Anakin. For being a padawan, sometimes I think she's more mature for her age than Anakin :P

I will agree with the above posts tho- its nice to see that at least the Jedi had viewed Clones as *mostly* human individuals. The Jedi acting and treating the unit Sargents and Commanders as humans, and often the regular soldier when on a personal basis...

"Oh hey! We ordered a huge clone army of soldiers that we didn't even know about!"
lol

i like asoka as a character, she just seem otta place being paired with anakin in all.
the secret apprentice is a much more interesting story to me.

wookiebastard

"Though its not so hideous as the short lived clone wars animated cartoon aka Samurai Jack style (sorry, just personal opinion here)."

That cartoon was amazingly good. I like it even more than the 3d Clone Wars. I loved how they managed to pull off episodes with barely any dialogue. Overall, that series was pure genious.

Ah, Yes. The characters from the prequel trilogy are so -very- suited for childrens' entertainment. Anakin is clearly the most suited protagonist for this adventure, having commited things such as child- and mass murder, supporting dictatorship, going through sexual tensions and whining about everyhing from the Jedi Order.

It's so very heroic to see our heroes lead brain-washed clones into battle who will soon find out why "Order 66" was blanked out in the protocol. It is such a noble cause that peace-keeping forces seek to be in favour of the Hutts who has actively enslaved and exploited trillions of people for millenia.

And it's terrific that a heap of characters finally get a chance of making an appearance longer than five minutes so that we can know that they actually served a purpose to the plot before their careers' suddenly ended in Episode 3!

It is so well that short-term profit is prioritized over artistic value worth remembering!

I. J. Thompson

Dude this is Star Wars, not Citizen Kane. Cheer up. :)
