Before and After - Story of a Jedi from Naboo [Mercy]

As my last request was quite humorous, I'm going to make this one a bit more serious.

Derrin Blackwater is very simple teenage human. With his average looks and plain clothes the only thing that makes him stand out among the royalty of Naboo is the constant grease that seems to find its way to his face and under his fingernails. He works as a droid, weapon and ship mechanic for the local government, it's easy work and good pay. He may not be the most remarkable person, but he's a wonder with a hydrospanner.

Derrin Blackwater is a very simple young adult human. His unremarkable appearance is accented with his very calm demeanor. The only thing that makes him stand out among the scum and villainy of the galaxy is the lightsaber at his hip. In a time when the Jedi have all but vanished from the galaxy, he has followed the path of the Jedi using teaching found in holovids and through what he knows of the most famous Jedi of the time: Luke Skywalker. He may not be the most remarkable person, but he's strong in the Force.

The request: I want this to be a sort of before and after picture using the two characters (maybe back to back with the younger facing front, the older looking over his shoulder). The "feel" of the piece needs to be one of unremarkable peace, a sense of serenity, if possible. Black Hair, blue eyes... very simple like all of the sense of self worth comes from within. If the lightsaber is lit, I'd prefer a simple blue or green standard. The time period for the game is after the fall of Thrawn, just before Luke starts the new jedi academy.

Thank you in advance to whomever picks this up... Now I'm off to write his back story growing up on Naboo.

Two weeks with nary a whisper... I'm going to go ahead and say this request can be deleted and I'll look elsewhere, maybe a private commission.

Tan-Par

No, but I don't really think it's a priority for me and I don't want to take the time of artists when there's other ideas out there. I really just wanted to see if it "sung" to anyone... if not, no big loss (our gaming group is on hold right now anyway, hazards of real life :P)

I mean, it can stay up here... but it's not something I've been too concerned with until the game gets back on track (if it does!)

Mercy

Actually, I like this idea. And the cookie only sweetens the deal... (mmm Wookie cookie.)

Anyways, I've drawn up a simple sketch of how I see it. If you like it I'll claim the request and run with it. If not, the brief can remain open. Sound fair?

Now I just have to find a way to get the pikkie to you...

Tan-Par

I was going to make a lame joke about Mercy Killing or showing me Mercy... but instead I'm just going to say thank you. I sent you a PM with my email address if you'd like further details or anything.

Thanks agian :)

Mercy

Yup, confirmation is through, it's go time!

Could someone move this to claimed for me? (Or let me know how to do it myself...)

Cheers,
~Mercy.

Evan Black

Can do. In the future, before you start work on a project it's best to claim it, that way the requester knows that their stuff is being worked on. All you have to do for the time being is say you're claiming it, and it will get to the right place.

Mercy

Okie-dokie!

I've started a blog so you guys can come see the work it progress!
Let me know what you think, I'd love some feedback on which of the final versions is best.

Cheers.
~ Mercy.

P.S.
If the final piece is acceptable shall we move this to finished? Can I post it in the gallery? If it's up to spec and all, you know...

Evan Black

This will be moved to finished when the final picture has been posted in the gallery.

When fulfilling a request from SWAG, there is a simple and straightforward process:

1. Find a request you like.

2. Claim it.

3. Finish it.

4. Submit it to the gallery.

After that, once the picture is fully processed and submitted, the request thread will move to where it needs to be in a timely fashion.

Mercy

Right-oh.

I'll make a decision on the final picture by tomorrow and post it in the gallery. I hope I'm not being too difficult, Evan. You seem to always have to explain things to me. Sorry.

~Mercy.

Evan Black

What decision is that? Are you making last minute alterations to the piece before submitting it?

If your indecision is on whether to submit the work or not, maybe this will help. It was originally a SWAG request, and was claimed by an official SWAG member, so unless it's otherwise inappropriate it belongs in your own SWAG gallery.

And judging from what I've seen in your blog the piece looks great! Submit away!

Mercy

The indecision was only over which one I wanted to use. Thanks for the advice, image submitted and finished! I should just stop dithering...

Cheers.
